So I gave my first speech that had been totally prepared without my conscious mind. And it went just fine! It was for me a very interesting experience...like having my mind split in half. One part of me was watching me while another part was delivering the speech. Quite interesting!
Well, I got good reviews from my Toastmaster peers. In fact, I won the speech contest! And now I had to prepare to compete at ever higher levels of Toastmasters with this speech. Great! But, I had forgot one thing...I had not given myself any instructions to remember this speech...and I didn't remember it. While I was being congratulated, and people would say something like: "I really liked that speech!". I would respond with thanks and "what specifically did you like about it?" That way I collected enough information to recreate the speech...at least at some level. I did ask myself from that point forward though to remember what I delivered!
