I gave a seminar a couple of days ago. It was scheduled months ahead of time and everyone knew that I needed the room 30 minutes ahead of time for preparation. Well, almost everyone. When I arrived on time, I learned that the room would not even become available until after my seminar was scheduled to begin. Someone else had double booked the room. Interesting. In spite of my best efforts to follow up, make sure that the room was going to be ready, it wasn't.
So, what happened? A great seminar is what happened. I took the middle of the seminar and dropped it into the beginning. I took the beginning and cut most of it out, since I had no time.
And you know what, it was really no big deal. Do you know why? Because I had started asking myself this question long ago...what is the worst that can happen and what can I do to prepare for it? It is a question that has served me well and can serve you well in the future.
